Starting with the next edition of the PHS Newsletter, PHS Wellness Coordinator Jana Stewart will be taking over as newsletter editor, replacing the current editor, Julie Nelson, who is retiring on October 1. Jana has been with PHS for four years and has degrees in kinesiology, public health, and environmental sustainability from the University of Michigan. She previously worked as a writer and newspaper copyeditor. In addition to being wellness coordinator for schools in greater Lansing and Washtenaw County, Jana also coordinates PHS’ volunteer program. Welcome Jana!
Join PHS in saying goodbye and congratulations to Julie Nelson on her retirement from U of M. Julie has had a long and distinguished career, joining MHealthy in 2002 as the MFit/MWorks marketing manager.
Since 2012, she has been managing marketing and communications for Project Healthy Schools. Julie’s skill in telling the PHS story built a solid communications portfolio that includes promotional materials, the newsletter, the advisory board, grant reporting, and several award nominations and wins, most recently the Governor’s Fitness Extraordinary Organization Award. Thank you to Julie for sharing her talents with U of M for 18 years.
