Are Parents Involved?

Successful programs require integration in the home, as well as education in the schools. We will communicate with parents via email and this website. Helpful information and ideas to guide parents will be posted on a regular basis. We encourage parents to get involved because when families develop healthy lifestyles, their children will follow.

Parents We Can! make a difference - maintaining a healthy weight is possible for the whole family! Energy balance is the key and that includes eating better and moving more. Take steps toward a healthier lifestyle today by checking out the practical tools at  We Can!  Another option is a four session class that focuses on these tools for parents or care givers of 8 to 13 year old children.  Form a group and we will come present the We Can! Energize our Families series.  Contact us for more information.

Will you have a sixth grade student at Slauson next fall?  In 2006/2007 parent volunteers led Project Healthy School activities in the same advisory classroom every other week.  Parents, students and teachers thought this arrangement worked well and everyone learned more about healthy lifestyles.  View the Facts on Fat activity now). We plan to have a similar program next year.  Please contact us for more information or if you are interested in getting involved.
